Camp Woe-Be-Gone 2010

Date: Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Objective:

Children, ages 6-12, that have experienced the death of a loved one are invited to join in a day of fun, support, exploration, and expression. Trained grief counselors and volunteers will use the backdrop of space and the Challenger story to help young people living with loss. The death does not have to be recent for a child to benefit. It is open to children in Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla, Franklin, Liberty, Taylor, Madison, and Jefferson counties.

Campers will launch into many fun and educational activities throughout the day including a simulated space mission, arts & crafts, an obstacle course, music, discussion, and a special time of remembrance. Campers may encounter themes like understanding grief, coping with stress and change, finding ways to remember, communication and teamwork.

SAFE PLACE- Confidential grief support groups for adults, Survivors of Suicide; Brevard County's only suicide survivor grief support group and Camp
Hope- a youth bereavement camp are also offered.
